One of my favorite stops in terms of entire portfolio in Temecula, and definitely one of the most unique is Robert Renzoni.
The history of winemaking in the Renzoni family dates to 1886, in a Italian vineyard along the Adriatic Sea.
When the family migrated to America, they began winemaking here but were soon shut down during Prohibition. Ever the entrepreneurial type, they turned to the home construction business until they were stopped again, this time by the Great Depression. A tale of resilience, the family got back into the industry again years later.
With this rich family history, it was in 2006 that the Robert Renzoni property was purchased in Temecula, a tribute to the previous generations of family.
Their pride and passion is their Italian style wines and varietals, their Barbera, Sangiovese and Viognier being my favorite of their lineup.
“Everything that we do is based on family traditions & heritage. We believe that wine should be — and our wine will be — known for the region from which it originates, rather than its varietal composition.” Robert Renzoni .
