Perched on a hill in Sonoma, with architecture resembling a German cottage sits Schug Winery. In unison with its humble, yet exquisite exterior, this winery has a lineup of equally as inviting and elegant wines.
Sarah of WinoWanderlust hosted a group tour and tasting of Schug Winery in Sonoma, led by their Hospitality Manager, Kyle T. Ritchie. We were led through a selection of their estate wines, including my favorite: their Estate Chardonnay.
From touring the caves and tasting Rosé from the tank to sampling Pinot Noir straight out of the barrel and pairing wine with locally sourced cheese, this was a unique experience and one I would recommend to visitors and locals alike. Schug has a rich history in Sonoma county, proudly family owned since 1980.
They specialize in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Cabernet Sauvignon and their property is perfect for a picnic or for a walk through their vineyard trails. For those who would like to try their wine while in downtown Sonoma, they also have a newly opened satellite tasting room in downtown Sonoma square.
